I was at the Academy 1960-61-62 under coach Bobby Gibbens (now in Karnes City, TX.) and decided not to returned my senior year.

In August 1962 I sat down with coach Newberry.  He tried to break through my thick headed ego.  I was too young to reconize the quality of man that was in my presence.  I left the meeting thinking, I am making a big mistake by not returning.  He was right and I was wrong.  

When Walter Eeds, Chuck Vyrostek, Roy Markum and the list goes on ALL told me the quality of leadership he possessed and the positive difference he made in their lives, I knew I missed out on something very big.  I regret not having a place in his life.
