Zadie H. Long, age 99, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on October 28, 2013. She was born on October 27, 1914 in Fort Worth, Texas to Levi Wells and Emma (Choate) Wells. Zadie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Emmett Long; 4 sisters and 1 brother. Zadie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by many. She was a “granny” to all that she met and a true Christian. She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Ruth Barry, Shirley Gene Gribble, Donna Ann Shaw and husband Maurice L. Shaw Jr., Karen Rackler-Ross and husband Dennis Ross; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; a niece and many loving friends. the family would also like to express their appreciation to the staff of Country Care Manor for their care and support. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31st from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Finch Funeral Chapel- La Vernia, Texas.
