Robert Medina, age 60, of Waelder and formerly of Smiley, died November 6, 2013 in San Antonio. He was born September 21, 1953 in Gonzales County to Lauriano Sr. and Marcela (Longoria) Medina. Robert is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Cody Medina; and a sister, Mamie Aleman. He is survived by his wife, Rosie Martinez; his children: Makayla Medina, Jennifer Medina, Richard Medina, Robert Medina, and Stacy Medina; numerous grandchildren; his brothers: Larry Medina Jr., Domingo Medina, Joe Medina; his sister, Susie Rice; and many nieces and nephews. Robert was a very loving man who loved spending time with his family taking trips, having barbecues, and always telling jokes. He was always outside making and building different projects. Robert was a very good man with a huge heart. He will be greatly missed.

Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 8th from 5 PM – 8 PM at Finch Funeral Chapel of Nixon with a Rosary at 6:30 PM. The funeral service will be held at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Smiley, TX on Saturday, Nov. 9th at 10:00 AM with Father Ouseph Kuriakose officiating. Burial will follow at the Wrightsboro Cemetery, Wrightsboro, TX. Pallbearers: Dante Medina, Domingo Medina, Joe Medina, Frank Aleman, Larry Medina, and Elix Carrillo. Honorary Pallbearers: Alex Elias, Frank Martinez, Valentino Hernandez and Chris Aleman.
