Lola N. Meuret Fuhrken,98, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, in Nordheim. She was born September 15, 1914, in Orange Grove, TX, to the late Frank and Erna Schlabach Meuret. Lola loved her yard, flowers, and roses and her little town of Nordheim. She made many contributions to the community and the Nordheim ISD. Her 95th birthday party was celebrated at the Nordheim Shooting Club Hall as a "Thank You" from the community. Her 98th birthday was celebrated at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otto Fuhrken; and sisters, Ora Meuret Voges, Josie Meuret Walter, and Frankie Meuret Staples.

She is survived by her nieces, Alma Jean Fuhrken (Willie) Goehring of Nordheim, Hertha Buehring and Werner Fuhrken of Orange Grove, Della Mae Sauer and Elrois Boerm of Cuero, Lee Nell (Durwood) Voges Boenig of Bonnie View and Janice Staples (Bobby) Ambrose of Magnolia; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful and caring care-givers Lola had 24/7. They did a great job. Also, thanks to Harbor Hospice and Dr. Dugi's care.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Friday, August 2, 2013, at Finch Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be 10 AM, Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Finch Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Nordheim Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Whitwell, Steven Whitwell, Glen Boenig, Dan Boenig, Walt Franke, and Alfred Franke. Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Wisian, Ruben Bryand, James Schroedter, and Kirby Sauer.
