LaVern “L.M.” Thomas, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, age 79, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on September 3, 2013. He was born on May 27, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa to Leslie L. Thomas and Arlyne N. (Daniels) Thomas. He worked and retired from City Public Service after 34 years of service. L.M. was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carolyn Thomas; children, Randell Thomas and wife Monika, Rodney Thomas, and Bernadette Knight and husband Kenneth; grandchildren, Brandon Thomas and wife Kristen, Bethany Corkran and husband Jon, Blake Thomas, Ashton Knight, and Karlynn Knight; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Thomas and Ainsley Corkran; sisters, Glenda McDonald and husband Frank and Sue Ward and husband Bill; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
