I know that Memorial Day is for those who lost their lives in battle and even though Dad did not die in Vietnam, being sent there took his life.  It was years after he came home that he actually started to return to being the person who left.  We did not know what PTSD was then but it changed him.  It was decades before we ever got close to having the man back who went to Vietnam.  No one will ever read this, but I needed to put it down in writing anyway.  Our country owes a huge debt to those who serve and even if they come home in one piece, they leave parts behind.
