Obituary for William Leslie "Bill" Melanson

William Leslie “Bill” Melanson, 89, of Yorktown, passed away Friday December 25, 2020, at his home surrounded by his wife and family. He was born September 16, 1931, in Ouray, Colorado to the late Joseph Leslie and Jessie Merling Melanson. Bill married Reola May Dowler in Durango, Colorado on May 23, 1965.

He enjoyed working on his ranch and tending to his cattle. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Yorktown.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Reola May; daughters, Mona Palmer (Sam) of Montrose, CO, Glenda Melanson (Jim) of Baldwin City, KS; son, Monte Melanson (Lee Ann) of Delta, CO; grandchildren, Mark Palmer, Lisa Searcy, Jessica Nakai (Jacob), Mason and Paul Mullen; great-granddaughters, Samona and Trissa Searcy, and Jemma Nakai; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth Dean Melanson; two sisters.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nordheim Cemetery in Nordheim, Texas.
