Obituary for Wiley Marion Sanders, Jr.
Wiley Marion Sanders, Jr., husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 21, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on July 9, 1946, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Wiley was a Vietnam War Veteran who proudly served during that conflict, he was trained and worked as an Avionics Electronics Technician in the Air Force and continued this vocation upon retirement for the Air Force by maintaining military aircraft for over 20 years at Joint Base San Antonio. Wiley also served his community for many years by working with the Volunteer Fire Department. Ruth and family traveled and lived aboard with him as he served. He was a faithful Christian and family man.
Wiley is preceded in death his loving wife of more than 54 years, Ruth Jane (Hampton) Sanders; parents, Wiley Marion Sanders, Sr. and Lillian Katherine (Moore) Sanders; sisters, Pricilla Sanders and Frances Nicholson. He is survived by his children, Lieutenant Colonel Tom Sanders (Kerrie), Marc Sanders, PhD (Lydia), Matthew Sanders, PhD (Elizabeth); five grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends and extended family.
A visitation will take place at Finch Funeral Chapel, La Vernia Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
