Obituary for Weldon Norbert Wenzel
Weldon Norbert Wenzel, age 85, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas.
Weldon was born to Hugo Wenzel and Otilia Fey on June 6, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas.
He graduated from St. Gerard High School in 1956. Weldon proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1958. He became an installer for Western Electric, Lucent Technologies and retired from AT&T after 44 years.
He was a charter member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4315 and a 4th degree member Assembly #1855. He coached and was active in youth baseball. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts.
Weldon was preceded in death by his wife Catherine McMonagle Wenzel of 42 years; parents; brothers, Hugo “Sonny” Wenzel, Jr. and Elroy Wenzel. He is survived by his children, Dennis Wenzel (Sandra), Derek Wenzel, Dale Wenzel, Roxanne Wenzel, Durwood “Woody” Wenzel; grandchildren, Jeremy Wenzel, Ethan Wenzel, Savannah Espinoza; many other relatives and numerous friends.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Visitation will be held, Monday, January 2, 2023, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 4535 Lord road, San Antonio, TX 78220, with Rosary recited at 7:00 PM that same evening. Father Scott Janysek will lead the Rosary.

Father Martin F. Parayno will officiate the Mass.
Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in San Antonio.
