Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend, Virginia Blackburn Wynne of Nixon, Texas, went to be with the Lord on the morning of June 23, 2021. Virginia was born on March 8, 1939, in Lampasas, Texas, an only child to William Woodrow Blackburn and Margaret Ann Zieschang Blackburn who precede her in death.
Virginia will be dearly missed by her husband of 60 years, Sidney Ray Wynne; children, Kim Pruski married to Frank Pruski of La Vernia, and Dirk Wynne married to Ashley Wynne of Nixon; grandchildren, Nathan and Julie Pruski of Spring, Krista and Matthew Gorzell of La Vernia, Craig and Whitney Pruski of Stockdale, Cullen Pruski and Jaycie Robinson of Nixon, Seth Ray Wynne of Nixon, and Jax Trip Wynne of Nixon; great-grandchildren, Michael Pruski, Parker Pruski, Matthew Gorzell Jr., Margaret Gorzell, Claire Gorzell, and Henry Pruski; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Virginia was a devout Christian belonging to the United Methodist Church in Nixon, Texas, and operating God’s Storehouse (food bank) in Nixon. She cherished her moments helping others and worshipping every Sunday. Virginia Taught school in Nixon-Smiley CISD until retirement. She found her true calling in becoming a teacher and fostering her students love for learning. Virginia loved to spend time with all of her family, and host holiday dinners for everyone to enjoy. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will greatly miss seeing her at the dinner table and saying the blessing before each meal.
A memorial service will be held on July 17, 2021, 11:00am, at First United Methodist Church in Nixon. As an alternative to flowers, donations to First United Methodist Church of Nixon - God's Storehouse Expansion Project, P.O. Box 20, Nixon, Texas 78140, would be much appreciated.
