Vera Linscomb Whitley, age 89, of Nixon, passed away December 22, 2015 in Seguin. She was born on November 16, 1926 in Port Arthur, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Buren and Esther Wagener Linscomb; her husband, William Preston “Pete” Whitley on December 3, 2008; and two sisters. Vera is survived by her daughter, Lois Billings and husband John of San Antonio; three sons: Wallace Whitley and wife Susan of Islamorada, Florida; Charles “Skip” Whitley and wife Mary of Jupiter, Florida; Matt Whitley and wife Laura of San Antonio; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeannie Ford of Nederland, Texas; two brothers: Jess Linscomb of Cost, Texas; Larry Linscomb of Buna, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00pm at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon with the Rev. Kyle Backhaus officiating. Interment will follow at the Nixon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be to the charity of one’s choice.
