Obituary for Trlica Maurine Cook Henry

Maurine Cook Henry, 93, passed away on April 15, 2022. She was born on October 23, 1928, in Nixon, Texas. Maurine is preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Mildred Cook; husband, Walter H. “Bubba” Henry; son, Hal Henry; and son-in-law, Mike Millington.

Maurine is survived by her daughter, Beverly Millington; granddaughter, Carey Millington; grandson, Cook Millington; and many friends and family.

After graduating from Nixon High School, she attended Baylor University. Maurine was employed by Holmes Foods in Nixon as a bookkeeper. After that, she opened “Maurine’s Gifts” in Nixon. She thoroughly enjoyed people and never met a stranger.

Maurine had many interests, and traveling was one of her favorites, especially weekend trips to Mexico with relatives and friends. Her needlepoint and crochet were impeccable. She made so many beautiful afghan throws and pillows of unique patterns. Most of all, she cherished her beautiful roses in her yard. Maurine truly had a knack for growing gorgeous varieties. The “Knock-Out Rose” was her favorite. When it came to sports, she delighted and adored watching her Baylor Bears, never missing a televised game. The Spurs were also a favorite. In addition, she loved her church, First Baptist in Nixon. Very rarely did she miss a service, even in her later years.

Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, 9:30am-10:30am, at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:30am at Finch Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Nixon Cemetery. Pastor Terry Davis will be officiant of the services. If desired, contributions may be made in Maurine’s name to the First Baptist Church in Nixon, 403 N.
