Robert “Bing” M. Rice passed to his heavenly home Sunday, February 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 3, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas to Robert Louis Rice and Lucille (Woodridge) Rice who have preceded him in death.

Bing met the love of his life Sherry Hensley at a very young age. They got married in Stockdale, Texas on August 2, 1962, and began a beautiful life together. Bing became a coach and enjoyed his career for several years. He greatly enjoyed his years coaching football and baseball and loved all his players. He coached at multiple schools in the San Antonio area throughout his career. Bing was also a huge fan of Texas Longhorn football and never missed a game. Additionally, he was very musically gifted, and loved to share his talent of playing Bluegrass music on his guitar any chance he got, whether in a band, with his friends and family, or even by himself. Throughout the years of enjoying his career and music, his family and his faith were always his primary focus; he loved them with his whole heart.

Bing is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sherry Hensley Rice; children, Dr. Darrell Rice (Stacy) and Shelley Wiens (Brian); grandchildren, Peyton Rice, Madison Yeater, Zach Rice.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM at Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.
