On April 9, 2022, Rita Van Zandt of Nixon, Texas entered eternal rest at the age of 49. Rita was born on August 22, 1972 in Floresville, Texas to Armando Trigo, Sr. and Rosa DeLeon Trigo. She is preceded in death by her father, Armando Trigo, Sr.; husband, George Albert Van Zandt; stepson, Jason Van Zandt; and stepdaughter, Stacy Van Zandt.

Rita will be dearly missed by her son, Jeremiah James Van Zandt; stepchildren, Nathan Van Zandt (Tabby), Georgie Van Zandt, Jr. (Amy), and Ruthie Van Zandt; Mother, Rosa Trigo; brothers, Richard DeLeon (Lisa), and Armando Trigo, Jr. (Julie); sisters, Amanda Perez (Julio), and Sarah Jimenez (Jose); grandchildren, Riley Van Zandt, Blake Van Zandt, and Amara Van Zandt; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Visitation with family will be on Friday, April 22, 2022, 5:00pm-8:00pm at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 2:00pm at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. Burial will follow at Nockenut Cemetery in Stockdale, Texas. Pastor Frank Pastrana and sister Dora Vidales will officiate.
