Obituary for Refugio E. Pena

Refugio E. Peña, age 94, of Smiley, passed away April 7, 2016 in Gonzales. He was born on July 4, 1921 in Gonzales County, Texas. Refugio is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Ezekiala (Espinosa) Peña; a son, Steve Joseph Peña; brothers: Locario, Raymond, Lee, and Pete; and sisters: Consuelo, Theresa, and Celestina. He is survived by his wife, Isabel (Pompa) Peña; three children: Guadalupe Peña and wife Margaret; George Peña and wife Ginger; Mary Linda Arce and husband Rick; a brother, Felix Peña; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and many friends.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon with a Rosary recited at 6:30 PM by Deacon John Moreno. The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Smiley with Father Ouseph Kuriakose officiating. Burial will follow in the Burriola Cemetery in Smiley. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
