Mr. Raymond Charles Bunte passed away on February 18, 2016 in Floresville, Texas at the age of 91. He was born on June 12, 1924 in West Point, Texas to Charles and Gussie (Hatfield) Bunte. On September 9, 2015 Raymond celebrated 65 years of marriage to his beloved Sarah Frances (Lopez) Bunte. Raymond began faithfully serving his country in 1943. On May 12, 1944 he was captured in Rome, Italy by German soldiers and was held as a POW until the end of the war. In 1963, he retired from the United States Air Force as TSgt with the Purple Heart and Bronze Star among his awards and decorations. Raymond then embarked on a 29 year career as a Barbershop owner. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill Bunte. Raymond is loved and will be missed by his wife, Sarah Bunte; son, Michael Bunte and wife Linda; brothers, Edwin Bunte Sr. and wife Vera, and Lawrence Bunte and wife Shirley; sisters, Lucille Hanisch, and Bonnie Taylor and husband Randy; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Finch Funeral Chapel, La Vernia. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon on February 25, 2016 at Finch Funeral Chapel. Mr. Keith Johanson will be officiant of the service. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The La Vernia Church of Christ, 131 Industrial Dr., La Vernia, Texas 78121.
