Obituary for Norvell Clayton Foster

Mr. Norvell Clayton Foster passed to his heavenly home on March 9, 2023, in Floresville, Texas. Norvell was born on October 19, 1933, to parents, Jewell (J.D.) Doyle Foster and Cora Opal Foster in Kansas City, MO.

Norvell joined the US Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1954. It was during this time he found his love for engraving. Norvell worked for the San Antonio Firefighters and retired after 30 years in 1984. During his retirement years he spent much of his time doing what he loved, which was engraving handguns and knives. He had many repeat customers and several within the Texas Rangers and had even engraved a knife for President Nixon. Norvell was very involved with his church for many years at Southeast Baptist Church where he was the Sunday School teacher of the men’s group.

Norvell was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn J. Foster of Marion, TX; parents, Jewell (J.D.) Doyle Foster and Cora Opal Foster of San Antonio, TX; stepson, Bruce Alan Turner of Stockdale, TX. He is survived by his five stepchildren and their spouses, Janette A. Nelsen (Vaughn B. Nelson) of Omaha, NE, Kelly E. Turner (Melissa D. Turner) of Rockport, MO, Phillip D. Turner (Laura L. Turner) of Bellevue, NE, Beverly F. Golden (Jason R. Golden) of Seguin, TX, and Meta J. Hickman (John J. Hickman) of Marion, TX. He also leaves behind many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
