Obituary for Neva C. Bowman (Cox)

On May 13, 2021, just one day shy of her 100th birthday, Neva C. Bowman went to be with the Lord. Neva was born on May 14, 1921 in Energy, Texas to Thomas F. Cox and Kate (Hanes) Cox. Neva married E.H. “Hank” Bowman on March 22, 1942 in San Angelo, Texas. They enjoyed 48 joyful years of marriage until his passing in 1990. One son, Joseph T. Bowman was born from this union and the family began their life in Smiley, Texas in 1971. Neva worked for the Smiley school district for 14 years. Neva is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas, and Kate Cox; husband, Hank Bowman; brothers, Thomas Cox, Carl Cox, and Eargle Cox; sisters, Delma Streety and Blanch Gage; and granddaughter, Nadia Bowman.

Neva is survived by her son, Joseph T. Bowman; grandchildren, Janet Bustamante (John), Debbie Weston (Mike), and Michael Bowman (Heather); great-grandchildren, Luke Bishop (Brittney), Geran Bustamante, Harlan Bowman; great-great-grandchildren, Rylan Bishop and Teagan Bishop.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021, 10:00am – 11:00am at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon, Texas. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am.

Neva will be buried at Bundick Cemetery in Smiley, Texas following the service. The Reverend Josh Walters will officiate the services.
