Obituary for Molly Jean Rowell (Baker)

Molly Jean Baker Rowell died on April 29, 2023, at her home in Stockdale, Texas. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher.

Molly was born in Nixon, Texas on April 20, 1938, the only child of Burnal and Delma Baker. After graduating from Nixon High School, she attended Mary Hardin Baylor and graduated first in her class in 1959 with a degree in English. Molly received her Master of Arts in English Literature from Trinity University in San Antonio in 1966.

In 1965, Molly married T.C. Rowell. They met each other as infants in the cradle roll Sunday school class at First Baptist Church Nixon, Texas. They were married nearly 58 years and were inseparable. She is survived by T.C. and her two sons, Travis Rowell of San Antonio and Trent Rowell and wife, Judith and her beloved grandchildren Francis and Burnal of Stockdale. She is also survived by her “adopted” daughter Amanda Morales and husband Salvador Morales and her beloved “adopted” grandchildren Patrick, Zaiden, and Analeigha of Stockdale.

Molly taught school for 35 years in Karnes City, Kyle, and Stockdale, Texas. She loved teaching children and made an impact on many students’ lives. Molly worked at her son Trent’s law office as bookkeeper and secretary for 17 years. She was a member of the Blue Bonnet Club for over 30 years. Molly was a follower of Jesus and member of the First Baptist Church Stockdale for over 54 years, serving in many capacities, including as a Sunday School teacher, GA leader, vacation bible schoolteacher, choir member, and substitute piano player.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 1st, 2023 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Stockdale.
