Obituary for Mary Smithey (Wiley)
Mary F. Smithey, of Sutherland Springs, Texas, passed away August 29, 2021, at the age of 71. Mary was born, May 31, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas to J.W. Wiley and Annie Nell (Anderson) Wiley.
Mary worked as a jailer for the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office until her retirement. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald Ray and Bunchie Smithey; brother, Hank Rose; sister, Pamela Hardin.
She is survived by her husband, David Smithey; sisters, Beth Cannon and husband Bill of Stockdale, and Gail Uhlig and husband Edward, of Sutherland Springs; sister-in-law, Cheryl Rose of Caldwell, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving friends.
Visitation with family and friends will be held from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Finch Funeral Chapel, La Vernia.

Rev. Ray Warren of First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs will officiate the service with interment immediately following at Steele Branch Cemetery.
The family will gather at the Sutherland Springs Community Center after the committal service.
