Maria Amaya Sotello, 80, of Belton, departed this world to be with our Lord on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at The Senior Care of Weston Inn, Temple, TX. She was born May 7, 1939, in Choate, Texas, to the late Eloisa P. Garces and the late Manuel Amaya. Maria married Nicholas Sotello on July 12, 1961 in Bell County. They bought a home in Belton and began their lives together. Maria worked for many years as a welder in the Belton/Temple area and a few years in the food service industry at a local restaurant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicolas Sotello; parents, Esteban and Eloisa Garcez and Manuel Amaya; both maternal and paternal grandparents.

Maria is survived by her sisters, Amelia Fraga (the late Bonifacio Fraga Sr), Eloisa Hernandez (Catarino), both of Runge, and Janie Rodriguez of Victoria; George Castillo, “The Son of Her Heart”, of Belton; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a beloved aunt, godmother, wife, sister and mother that we will forever hold in our hearts.

Visitation will be 4-8pm and a Rosary at 7pm, Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Finch Funeral Chapel - Runge. Funeral Mass will be at 10am, Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Runge with Father Norbert Herman officiating. Burial will follow at Runge Latin American Cemetery.
