Obituary for Maggie Ortiz-Leija

Maggie Ortiz-Leija passed peacefully in the comfort of her home on January 27, 2023, at the age of 58. She was born on January 25, 1965, to Marcos Ortiz and San Juana Ortiz (Gallegos) in Boynton Beach, Florida.

Maggie graduated from La Vernia High School where she met her high school sweetheart Miguel A. (Mike) Leija. They married August 13, 1988 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Together they ran their own business ACF for over 20 years. They enjoyed traveling and camping in their RV “My Casita”.

She was loving, generous, strong, and independent and will be greatly missed by her friends, who referred to her as “Sweet Maggie”. Although a devastating loss to the family they take comfort in the cherished memories they share.

Maggie was preceded in death by her mother, San Juana Ortiz; brother, Marcos Javier Ortiz; grandparents, Jose Angel and Inocencia Ortiz, Hermenejildo and Virginia Gallegos. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Miguel A. “Mike” Leija; father, Marcos Ortiz; sisters, Marie Ortiz-Jaramillo (Ruben), Virginia Ortiz-Valdez (Leonard), Emily Ortiz-Wheeler (Roger); brother, Jose Angel Ortiz (Rosalinda); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation with the family will take place Friday, February 10, 2023, from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM, with Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM that same evening at Finch Funeral Chapel, La Vernia, Texas.
