Obituary for Leona F. Skelton (Zimmerman)
On Thursday, June 1, 2023 Leona Zimmerman Skelton passed away at her home in Sutherland Springs Texas and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Leona was born on August 8, 1949 in Floresville, Texas and married her husband of 55 years, Dwain Skeleton, on August 19,1967. Together they had three daughters that they loved dearly.
The most important thing Leona ever wanted was to share with others about the saving power of Jesus Christ. She accepted Jesus into her heart when she was 14 years old and her life was changed forever. Her life’s desire was for her family and friends and anyone that she had the opportunity to speak with to know that there was a friend, Jesus, that would stick closer than a brother. Her hope was that they would accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior and that is her hope for you too.
Leona is survived by her husband J. Dwain Skelton; children, Lisa Nixon (Bobby)
Tammy Brothers (Paul), Stephanie Sweat (Jonathan); grandchildren, Chris Brothers (Courtney) , Abigail Nixon, Shelby Yeoman (Taylor), Morgan Rodriguez (Jose), Madeline Sweat, Darby Sweat; great
grandchildren, Everleigh Brothers, Easton Brothers, Hudson Yeoman, Parker Yeoman (on the way);siblings, Adolph Zimmerman, Jr., Lillian Lyssy, Henry Zimmerman (Barbara), Joyce Ellis; sisters in law Darlene Connally, Dawn Davis, Dan Skelton, Betty Tondre (Bill); numerous nieces, nephews, other loving
relatives, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Christine (Schmidt) Zimmerman.; siblings, Johnny Zimmerman, Alfred, Zimmerman, Genevie Laskowski, Harry Zimmerman.
A visitation will take place Monday, June 5, 2023, at Finch Funeral Chapel, La Vernia.
