Obituary for Leo F. Zaiontz

Leo F. Zaiontz of St. Hedwig, Texas passed away on January 23, 2020. He was born on October 10, 1938 in Falls City, Texas to Alois and Eleanor (Mutz) Zaiontz whom have preceded him in death. Leo was a rancher and farmer throughout his life. Leo also served in the Army reserves for 6 years. Leo's prominent jobs were with Martin Linen (San Antonio), Frito Lay (San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Victoria), Mal Burklo ( Victoria), Richardson Brothers Chevrolet ( Floresville), and Hertz rentals in San Antonio. He also spent several years serving with Hocheim Prairie Insurance. In his retirement years, he enjoyed taking trips with his loving wife, spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and hunting with his lifelong friend Tony, and spending time at his farm in St. Hedwig. He also coached CYO baseball for several years and was a member of the St. Hedwig American Legion. He and his wife were married at, and attended, Annunciation Catholic church in St. Hedwig. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joann Zaiontz (Kosub); sons, Mark Zaiontz (Amanda,) Randall Zaiontz, and Michael Zaiontz ( Jennifer); grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor, Ross, Isabelle, Zachary, Emma, Mckenzie and Zoe; brother, Alois Jr Zaiontz; sister, Mary Dragon, Ruth Lowrance, Rose Burch and Irene Beam. Leo was loved by his family and was a friend to all. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed. A visitation will be held Friday, January 31, 2020 from 5:00pm-8:00pm; Rosary at 7:00pm, at Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Annunciation BVM Catholic Cemetery. Father Bill Zadora will be officiant of the services.
