Obituary for LCDR Anthony Joseph Salinas, U.S. Navy (Ret.)

On Wednesday, July 17, 2019, Anthony Joseph Salinas (A.J.) loving son, brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend, passed away at the age of 71.
Anthony was born on February 14, 1948 in Yorktown, TX to Antonio C. and Margarita Salinas.
Anthony attended Holy Cross Catholic School and graduated from Yorktown High School in 1966. He received degrees from Southwest Texas State University (BBA), Trinity University (MHA), did post graduate work at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
In 1974, he was accepted as an Officer into the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He proudly served our country for 20 years and retired in 1994.
He held management positions in the health care industry and owned his own insurance company. He dedicated the last seventeen years as an adjunct professor at Lone Star Community College in Cypress, Texas. He was a member of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce, President of the Oak Creek Village Homeowners Association, member of Northgate Country Club, and a member of Saint Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houston, Texas.
Anthony will be remembered for his generosity and love for his family and his sports cars. He enjoyed the finer things in life and took pleasure in sharing that luxury with his loved ones. Anthony was a true friend who had great stories of his adventures in the military. He was a walking encyclopedia and a great conversationalist. He often hosted family gatherings to celebrate special occasions or just to bring the family together. He always enjoyed returning home to Yorktown. If you invited him to an event you better believe he’d arrive with BBQ, fried chicken, and some kind of chocolate dessert! He was the patriarch of the family and will be deeply missed.
Anthony was preceded in death by his father Antonio C. Salinas, mother Margarita Salinas, infant sister, and his second mother, Janie Salinas. He is survived by his brothers Rene Hernandez (Sylvia), Ronald Salinas (Cindy), Carlos Salinas, and Joe Salinas. His nephews Derrick Hernandez, Jonathan Salinas, Michael Salinas, Christopher Salinas (Marlene), Noah Salinas, Jonah Salinas, and Bradley Seibert. His nieces Hanna Salinas, Malarie Rodriguez (Isaac), and Adriana Salinas. His great nephews Cole Rodriguez, Mason Salinas, Case Rodriguez, and Cashton Hartman, great niece Miliana Salinas, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
