Larry Joe Ivey, 72, passed away on Thursday, March 19 surrounded by his loving daughters, at his home in Kyle, TX. Larry was born on July 24, 1947 (the day of our Lord as he always liked to say) in Leesville, Texas. He is proceeded in death by his parents Douglas and Pauline Ivey, his loving wife Diane Ivey, his brothers Sam and Mickey, and his sisters Esther, Sharon, Louise, Ella, and Alice. He is survived by his daughters Melissa Ivey Long and family, Jody Delgado (Gilbert), JoAnn Alexander (Bubba), Kimberly Ivey (Jaime Garcia), and Monica Ivey. He is also survived by his grandchildren Joshua (Marissa), Tayler (Mason), Jonathan, Morgan, Anthony, Brayden, Jenasis, Sawyer, Braxton, and Robert Jax. He had one great grandson Kaleb and one great granddaughter on the way that he was very excited about. He is survived by one sister Lois Meyer (AW) and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Larry was an honorable man who proudly served his country in the US Army and US Marine Corps and he loved sharing stories from this time in his life. He was a hard-working, loving, devoted father to his girls. He taught the value of integrity, sacrifice and independence. He instilled the importance of family by reminding us to always be there for each other. Larry loved his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and it was very important to him that his family did as well. Larry loved watching old western movies on TV as well as college and professional sports (especially UT Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys). He shared many lifetime stories over the years and was good at making everyone laugh.
Larry had many lifelong friends and would do anything to help someone in need. He wanted to be sure we didn't mourn his passing too long but preferred that we celebrate his life instead. We are saddened that we cannot have funeral services at this time but look forward to celebrating his life with friends and family in the future.
May he rest eternally in the arms of our Lord forever and always.
