Obituary for Laddie J. Nemec

Laddie J. Nemec, age 88, of Adkins, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, in Schertz, Texas. Laddie was born September 7, 1932, in Corpus Christi, the oldest of 6 children, to John and Toney (Mikulec) Nemec.
After graduating from Calallen High School in 1950, he joined the US Air Force and served as a B-26 aerial gunner during the Korean War. He flew 50 combat missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and 2 Air Medals during his tour.
Laddie married Sondra Nell Baxter on March 3, 1962 and resided in San Antonio for many years.
In 1972, he began his career as an artist drawing on his childhood memories of exploring South Texas brush country and wildlife. His works received wide public acclaim as he participated in top quality art shows in the state.
Laddie was a devoted husband, supportive brother, and caring uncle to many nieces and nephews. He loved sharing his love of hunting, fishing, and art with friends and family.
Laddie was preceded in death by his devoted wife Sondra, his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Anne Luedecke (Newell), sister, Lilly Fine, and brother, Billy Nemec (Barbara). He is survived by his brothers, John Nemec (Genevieve), Jerry Nemec (Carol), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will take place Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 5pm to 7pm with a Rosary Vigil recited at 7pm at Finch Funeral Chapel, La Vernia.

Father Bill Zadora will officiate at the funeral mass. Interment will follow in the Annunciation BVM Catholic Cemetery, St. Hedwig. Memorial contributions may be made in Laddie’s name by way of mass intentions.
