Obituary for Kathryn Woodall Caraway

Kathryn (Woodall) Caraway, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord on December 10, 2022. Kathryn was born on October 22, 1934, in Nixon, Texas to Ima and Max Woodall. She graduated from Nixon High School as the Salutatorian of her class. She then attended Southwest Texas Teacher’s College, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education, later receiving her Master’s at Texas A&I. Kathryn married Morris L. “Bubba” Caraway on July 21, 1956, in Nixon, Texas. They had four children, Kim, Kevin, Christi, and Clay Caraway. Kathryn and Bubba were married 37 years before his passing in 1994.

Kathryn was a member of First Baptist Church of Nixon where she taught Sunday School for many years. One of her main focuses in life was for everyone to know Jesus. She was a dedicated elementary school teacher for 25 years. She expected manners and respect, not only from her own children, but from every child she taught and loved. Kathryn and Bubba promoted strong work ethics that they passed on to their entire family.

Kathryn is survived by her sons, Kim Caraway and wife Kelly, Kevin Caraway and wife Lee Ann, and daughter, Christi Caraway Dixon; grandchildren, Houston Burnett and wife Bridgette, Clay Burnett and wife Sarah, Courtney Caraway Patteson and husband Jeffery, Connor Caraway Richter and husband DJ, Kade Dixon, Bret Hill and wife Stephanie, and Blaine Hill and wife Ashley; great-grandchildren, Jaxson Hill, TC Burnett, Rhett Richter, Briggs Patteson, Anson Wheelis, Elliot Hill, Emery Hill, Bentlie Burnett, Harper Patteson, Corlee Richter, Audrey Burnett, and Camille Kathryn Burnett; nieces she was very fond of, Cheryl Gosch and Jan Hodges.

Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband, Morris L. “Bubba” Caraway, son, Morris Clay Caraway; parents, Max and Ima Woodall; brother, Robert Wayne Woodall; and sister, Patty Woodall McCullough.

Visitation will begin at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Nixon. The funeral service will follow at 3:00pm. Burial will be at Nixon Cemetery, Nixon, Texas. Pastor Terry Davis will be officiant of the services. If desired, donations may be made in Kathryn's name to First Baptist Church of Nixon, 403 N. Texas Ave., Nixon, Texas 78140.
