Joe Mark Mahan was born June 11, 1939, to Iris Grey Richardson Mahan and Elliot Coyle Mahan. He died September 6, 2021. Joe Mark was born and raised in Leesville and Nixon, Texas.

He met Judy Short (Mahan) in Gonzales, fell in love, and married her September 5, 1959. They lived in Dilley, Texas from 1961 to 2021 where they raised two boys, Mark Houston, and Darryl Wade. Wade Houston Mahan is his one and only grandchild whom he adored. Joe Mark has one sister, Coylene Mahan Oliver.

Joe Mark’s passion was growing watermelons and peanuts, which his daddy introduced him to at a young age. He expanded this love of farming into a successful produce enterprise from Mexico to throughout Texas. He was also in the cattle business and acquisition of real estate.

Joe Mark was a loyal friend and lent a helping hand to many. He loved his family and God. He was a good guy.
