Obituary for Jane C. Landers (Campbell)

Jane Campbell Landers passed away November 22, 2021, 23 days shy of her 90th birthday. She grew up in Nixon, Texas graduating from Nixon High School and attended Stephens College in Missouri before transferring to the University of Texas. She received her Bachelors degree in elementary education. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Jane was a true Southern Belle with Texas and Mississippi roots.

On June 22, 1952 she married the love of her life Jack McCorkle Landers in Nixon. Their courtship was brought to fruition by family members who arranged their first date. The couple settled in San Angelo where she taught elementary school and Jack was employed at Landers Automotive.

She took great pride in her home where she raised her two children John and Susan. She enjoyed interior decorating, homemaking and entertaining in her family home of 58 years. Jane also loved spoiling her one and only favorite granddaughter Lucy.

Jane was very active in the San Angelo community and was a member of the Junior League of San Angelo, the Daughters of the American Revolution and First Baptist Church of San Angelo. She was also part of the League of Women voters and volunteered with Planned Parenthood. She joined numerous bridge groups, supper clubs and enjoyed reading novels. While John and Susan were in school, she assisted with PTA projects and many scout groups.

Throughout Jane’s life, she enjoyed visiting the family lake houses located at Lake Placid and Lake McQueeney Texas. She danced to many a song at the Lake Breeze Ski Lodge with Jack. During their retirement years, Jack and Jane traveled together with friends and enjoyed 63 wonderful years of marriage filled with family memories.

She was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Harvey and Lurline Campbell; Husband Jack and son-in-law Paul Kolb; also custodial daughter Carolyn Kimbro McNatt. .

She is survived by Son John Campbell Landers and wife Stacey of Columbus, Nebraska; and Granddaughter Lucy of San Antonio; She is also survived by her daughter Susan of Ruidoso, New Mexico; her custodial daughter, Ann Kimbro Snow and husband Ron; and her brother Dr. Charles Harvey Campbell and wife Mary. She was loved by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jane was a woman of faith whose life was filled with prayer. The family appreciates your condolences as Jane begins her new life in Heaven.

Graveside services will be at 2 PM, Saturday November 27, 2021 at the Nixon Cemetery Nixon, Tx. under the direction of Finch Funeral Home. Prior to the service, a light lunch will be served at the Nixon home of Don and Gladyne Finch (301 N. Texas Avenue) at 1PM. Memorials in honor of Mrs. Landers may be sent to Meals for the Elderly or the charity of your choice.
