Obituary for James M. "Jim" Tarpley

James “Jim” M. Tarpley, 78, of Converse, Texas, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022. Catherine White Tarpley, his loving wife of 32 years, was by his side. Jim was born on February 22, 1943, in Washington, D.C. to Mel and Margie (Johnson) Tarpley.

After high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force. After proudly serving his country for several years, Jim went to work for Mack and Peterbuilt as a sales person of semi trucks. Those who know Jim would agree that he had a dry sense of humor, and that he liked to laugh. Moreover, he enjoyed watching Nascar racing and his cooking shows. During his lifetime, Jim also resided in Lake Cypress Springs.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, and survived by his wife Catherine; sons James Shannon Tarpley and his wife Donetta, Jeffrey Todd Tarpley, and Jason Frank Jones; daughter, Christey Clayton and husband Tony; grandchildren Donivan and Devin Tarpley, Dillon, Jonathon, Jacey Clayton, Megan Clayton-Autrey, Mason Jones; numerous other loving relatives and friends.
