James “J.D.” Thompson entered into eternal rest on September 23, 2023, at the age of 91. He was born on April 29, 1932, in Yoakum, Texas to Samuel Dewitt and Callie (Estes) Thompson.

J.D. honorably served in the United States Navy. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harvey Thompson (Motie), Duck Thompson (Laverna), Buster Thompson (Oletta), Joe Thompson (Mary), Ray Thompson (Tarsey), Gene Thompson (Earlene), and David Thompson (Elizabeth); sisters, Mae Thompson and Shirley Johnson (Jamie); and grandson-in-law, David Cervantes. J.D. is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bobbie Jean Thompson; children, Cindy Landgrebe (Richard), Jeff D. Thompson, Joshua D. Thompson, and Jason D. Thompson (Jeanette); grandchildren, Jill Cervantes, Andrew Landgrebe (Cat), Jordan Landgrebe (Karrigan), Devin Thompson (Leanne), Joshua Thompson (Elizabeth), Kristofer Thompson (Cassandra), Brannon Thompson, Brittany Smith (Jerome), Samuel Thompson (Megan), Justin Thompson, Will Rutledge (Kaiyla), and Ender DeLeon; 24 great-grandchildren and one on the way that J.D. found out about in secret the day before he passed; numerous bonus grandchildren and great- grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Salem Sayers Baptist Church on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
