In his spare time James enjoyed working on and repairing motorcycles and building custom guns.
James is survived by his son, Thomas Franckowiak, and wife Lori; daughter, Jeanette Alff; grandchildren, Michael, Kimberly, and Kyle Alff; great-granddaughter Lillian Alff; brother, John Franckowiak (Shirley) and Larry Franckowiak (Karen); sister, Roslie Schaefer; numerous nieces and nephews.
