George "Shorty" Walker entered eternal rest on December 29, 2021 at the age of 79. He was born on March 3, 1942 in Austin, Texas to George W. and Pansy Etta (Williamson) Walker.

George was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed participating in roller derby games. He worked as the general manager at MBCI for many years and was a member of the Houston VFD. In his spare time he volunteered at Concrete Cemetery for many years.

He is preceded in death by his son, William B. Walker, his parents, and his brother, Charles Calvin Walker. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Nell (Mattern) Walker; children, Theresa Rowell, Joseph Walker (Jennifer), Jerry Melton, Scottie Melton (Patricia); grandchildren, Kendra Lackey, Kristopher Lackey, Brandon Walker, Zach Walker, Graciela Melton, Allison Melton, Payton Walker, Blaine Walker, Gabriella Walker, Jeremiah Walker; sisters Reba Gryder and Claudia Thanheiser; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

There will be a visitation with family and friends Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, at Finch Funeral Chapel, La Vernia.
