Obituary for Frances B. Colwell (Bundick)

Frances Bundick Colwell of Nixon, Texas passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the age of 90. She was born on June 24, 1931 to Jap and Olga (Moore) Bundick in Smiley, Texas.

Frances attended school in Smiley, and then attended college in San Marcos for a brief time before marrying her long-time sweetheart, Doyle Colwell, on July 7, 1949. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2010.

Frances was active in the Nixon Methodist Church and enjoyed the fellowship of all her friends; especially game-night. She was a member of the Gonzales Red Hatters, Daughter of the American Revolution of Gonzales, and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas of Smiley. Frances loved to travel and went on many trips with the XYZ’s of Gonzales as well as family and friends.

Frances is survived by daughters, Cathy Colwell of Houston, Texas and Shirley Shepherd and husband Steve of Dallas; grandsons, Travis and wife Shelby, Austin and wife Ashleigh, Garrett, and Rhett and wife Marie; great-grandson, Henry Shepherd; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Frances is preceded in death by her husband Doyle Colwell, and parents Jap and Olga Bundick.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022, 5:00pm-7pm, at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022, 10:00am, at the First United Methodist Church in Nixon with interment following at the Nixon Cemetery. Pastor Audrey Hewell will officiate the services.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Stephen Bowman, Jim Blohm. Ben Colwell, Michael Ortman, Jeffrey Patteson and Tel Lindemann; Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Magee, Jr., and Verne Colwell.
