Obituary for Evelyn Mary Pollok (Lyssy)

Evelyn Pollok passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the age of 96. In 1959, Evelyn, her husband, Daniel, and their 3 children made their home in St. Hedwig, Texas, where she resided until 2016.

Following a stroke suffered in 2016, she lived out the rest of her life as a resident of Regent Care Center- Oakwell Farms. Widowed at a young age, Evelyn assumed many new roles such as ranching, maintaining full-time employment at Colonial Bakery, and most importantly, taking on the responsibility of being both mother and father to her three children. She is remembered by her family and friends as being a loving, caring woman who was always willing to help others. She is survived by daughter, Linda Pollok Jones (William), her son, Leroy James Pollok (Loyana), and Robert B. Gauntner (Son-in-law), her four grandchildren, Tiffany Accomazzo (Scott), W. A. Jones, Lindsay Carter (Morgan), Ashleigh Zelenak (Jeff), her four great grandchildren, Colton Accomazzo, Ty Carter, Lane Carter, Bryce Carter, and her surviving siblings, Wilma Kotara, Mary Rose Pawlik, and Vincent Lyssy, Jr. She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel S. Pollok, her daughter, Sharon Pollok Gauntner, parents, Vincent, Sr. and Adela Lyssy, and numerous brothers and sisters. Special recognition and abundant thanks are to be given to our adopted family at Regent Care Center-Oakwell Farms, especially to Carolyn Green, Darleen Carter, Ray Alacron, and Idalmis Zayas for their tireless and compassionate care of our mother in her final years.
