Elsie Marie (Witte) Ferry, age 97, of La Vernia, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022, in Seguin. Elsie was born January 24, 1925 in La Vernia to Wilhelm and Elsa Edna (Mattke) Witte. Elsie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and involved with Herman Sons Lodge. Lovingly known as “the Betty White of La Vernia”, she is a local legend that will surely be missed. Her parents, husband, Robert Roy Ferry Jr. and brothers, Henry Witte, William Witte Jr., Harry Witte, Elton “Sonny” Witte, Melvin Witte and Alfred Witte and sisters, Alvina Witte Kirkpatrick and Dora Wyatt precede her in death. Elsie is survived by her son Robbie Ferry and wife Tricia; grandchildren, Lindsey Davis and husband Trevor, Denise Ferry and Stephen Ferry; great-grandsons, Jaxon and Colton Davis; sisters, Lillian Kosub and Laura Baumann and husband Marvin; Sister-in-law Rita Witte; numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family, and a host of friends. A visitation will take place from 5pm to 8pm on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Finch Funeral Chapel, La Vernia.
