Elaine Marilyn Doege Schnitz “Nanny”, age 79, of La Vernia, TX passed away on November 20, 2022. She was born on January 6, 1943, in Seguin, TX to parents, Alfred and Pauline (Mergle) Doege, who both preceded her in death. Elaine worked at USAA for 39 years, she loved driving the van for USAA and was voted Driver of the Year. She loved her children and grandchildren very much; she would do anything for them. They could always come to her if they needed something. She was active in the church, loved playing bunco, and going on the bus to gamble. Elaine was very active in working the elections in both La Vernia and Wilson County. Elaine was also preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin Gorlaska; second husband, Harley Schnitz; sister, Joyce Doege; nephew, Chris Pierce; in-laws, Walter and Virgie Gorlaska and Sebe and Annie Schnitz. She is survived by her daughters, Dianell Recker and husband Brent, Sherry Schneider and husband Craig, and Shannon Coleman and husband Ronnie; grandsons, Braden Recker and wife Paige, Logan Recker, Blake Schneider, Bryson Coleman; granddaughters, Brylee Coleman and Kandis Schneider; sister, Mildred Mihalski and husband Albert; brother-in-law, Rex Schnitz; sister-in-law, Beverly Pierce; and niece, Kristine Fretwell. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2022, at Finch Funeral Chapel, La Vernia.
