Obituary for Donna H Hewell (Hewell)

Donna H. Hewell went to join the heavenly angels on December 7, 2023 after a lengthy hospital stay and
heroic battle with Covid-Related Pneumonia complicated by a recent chemotherapy treatment. She was
surrounded by her siblings, nieces and nephews and extended family members.

Donna was born on September 21, 1948, to Thomas Francis “Bubba” Hewell and Jeanne Mezzadri
Hewell Bowen in Nixon, Texas.

Growing up in Nixon in the 1950’s and 1960’s, she was surrounded by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
On her mother’s side there were trips to visit and visits from the east coast, New York, and Connecticut
family. This sense of family nurtured many Hewell family stories over the years and was instrumental
in her innate knowledge of and her love of the Hewell, Hensley, Barnes, Mezzadri, Faurot family
histories. She took great pride in her family and heritage.

After living in New York and working for Reader’s Digest for a short time, Donna lived her life in south
Texas. She worked for T.E.T.C.O, a Tom E. Turner Co., rising to regional manager of multiple stores in the
San Antonio area. Donna retired in 2015.

Donna loved to travel. Whether it be by automobile, air, boat or her beloved “fifth wheel" excursions.
She loved nature; rivers, oceans, mountains (high or low) and she loved the Union Valley ranch where
she spent happy times with her Mimi and Dad. Where she learned to cook, ride horses and work cattle.
Donna was a wonderful cook using many of her Mimi’s recipes. She was a green-thumb gardener. She
was an animal lover. She was a music lover. She was a knowledge seeker.

Most importantly, Donna loved people. She was a giver of herself and gift giver of little thoughtful
“somethings” along the way. Donna was a best friend and sister to her brothers. She was always
interested in and a big part of her nieces, nephews and extended family’s lives, HER KIDS. She knew how
to be a good friend.

Donna was predeceased by her parents Thomas Francis “Bubba” Hewell, Sr., Jeanne Mezzadri Hewell
Bowen, Grandparents John Afton Hewell and Ruth "Mimi " Hensley Hewell, Joseph Edward Mezzadri and Hazel
Faurot Mezzadri. She is survived by her brothers; Thomas Francis Hewell, Jr. (Karen) of Katy, Joseph
Afton Hewell (Mary) of Nixon, Nieces, and Nephews; Amy Moravec of Hutto, Jason Hewell (Crystal) of
Fort Worth , J.B. Hewell (Alison) of Austin, Court Hewell (Sarah) of Schertz, Leslie Hewell (Van) of
Richmond, Kate Miller (Chris) of Cibolo. Great Nieces and Nephews; Megan Moravec, Laura Moravec,
Bridgette Moravec, Cali Hewell, Diana Hewell Gregory, Remy Hewell, Cohen Miller. Numerous loved
cousins. Dear friend; Ginny Kite of San Antonio, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
who all loved Donna.

Donna will be laid to rest at the Nixon Cemetery, Hewell Section, next to her grandmother, Mimi. As per
her wishes.

The family wishes to extend our thanks to Dr. Nora Walker, M.D. (Pulmonary Specialist) who tried
everything and took the best care with Donna. We extend our thanks to the ICU staff at the Methodist
Hospital Medical Center, as well, for their compassionate care.
