Obituary for Donald Roy Gann

Donald Roy Gann passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on December 9, 2022 at
the age of 63 years old. He was born in Waco, Texas on February 18, 1959 to Billy and Lorene (Dryer)
Gann.

Donald is preceded in death by his father, Billy, in-laws Jack and Betty Speer and sisters-in-law
Jacqueline Speer and Roxane Gann. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Vicki, sons Kory Gann and wife
Whitney, Kody Gann and wife Olivia, mother Lorene Gann, brothers Virgil Gann, Barry Gann and wife
Kay, Jerry Gann, sister-in-law Betsy Keller and husband Steve and grandsons Samuel and Henry.
Donald truly lived life to the fullest and treasured simple pleasures such as drinking his morning coffee
on the cantina at the ranch. Taking his grandsons on buggy rides to check the feeders, winning big at
the penny slots and craps tables at any casino he walked into, elk hunting with his boys in the mountains
of New Mexico, and hosting hunts on his ranch with the friends and family he holds most dear are just a
few of the ways he appreciated life.

Donald was committed to a life of service and friendship. While playing football at Texas Lutheran
College he was blessed with the opportunity to develop life-long friendships with his teammates. His
love of football and the relationships he fostered while coaching were major components of his
successful 23-year coaching career. His enthusiasm for the game and dedication to the players was
empowering and inspirational; characteristics that Donald carried with him into his role as an associate
principal. On the field and in the classroom, Don impacted many young people, making them feel
valued and respected. Don’s legacy will continue through the many young lives he impacted.
Don was tough, loving, and generous. His no-nonsense way of life allowed him to appreciate the little
things and be present in the moments that mattered most. He was a devoted husband to his beautiful
wife Vicki. Together they raised two loving and intelligent boys who learned how to love by the
tremendous example set by their parents. Don’s love will continue to live on through the countless stories and memories we all share.
