Obituary

Delbert Monroe Webb, age 70, of Ardmore, Oklahoma (recently from Round Rock, Texas, a proud sixth generation Texan) went home to Jesus on August 20, 2020. He was born in Smiley on July 21, 1950 and graduated valedictorian of Smiley High School in 1968. Del is a member of the First Baptist Church of Ardmore after having been baptized again, along with his wife, on July 5, 2020. Del is survived by his loving wife since May 30, 1970, Patricia Ann (Henneke) Webb, of Ardmore; his mother, Agnes Inez (West) Webb, of Smiley; his daughter Christy Ritchie and husband Wilson of Pflugerville, Texas; son Stephen Webb and wife Krisan of Ardmore, Oklahoma; and beloved granddaughter (that he referred to as “Paw Paw’s little girl”), Shelby Webb, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, in addition to his brother, John Webb (wife Lisa) of Nixon; two sisters: Karen Lohse and Ellen Melissa Laging (husband Michael), both of Smiley, Texas; brothers-in-law Jimmy Henneke (wife Diana) of Yorktown; and Bob Henneke of Corpus Christi plus numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Hugo Morris Webb, Sr.; his brother, Hugo Morris Webb, Jr.; a niece, Amber Webb; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; and a brother-in-law. Del enjoyed being with family and making homemade ice cream, a favorite of his mother. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and looking for arrowheads, hobbies his son also enjoys. He enjoyed landscaping and working in the yard. He enjoyed traveling, whether it was tagging along on Patricia’s work trips, going to Las Vegas with his brother, or taking an Alaskan cruise with his family. He loved gardening, reading, and watching old western movies and The Andy Griffith Show. He enjoyed eating, especially his wife’s cooking, and liked beans and cornbread (including the occasional cornbread with milk), lasagna, and all kinds of Tex-Mex. He was an excellent grill-master and spent many a Saturday making BBQ for Smiley residents and family. Del spent his life in the automotive industry by working in wholesale distribution. This also extended to a love of classic cars, including the 1965 Ford Mustang that he helped his son Stephen refurbish as his first car. The family would like to thank Cross Timbers Hospice of Ardmore for taking care of Del’s medical needs and comforts as well as Dr. Alton Fannin of the First Baptist Church of Ardmore for his ready assistance with the family’s spiritual needs and for providing comfort as Del prepared to go to his eternal home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to either Cross Timbers Hospice of Ardmore, Oklahoma or the First Baptist Church of Ardmore, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2020, 5:00pm-8:00pm at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon, Texas.
