Obituary for Daniel E. Carbaugh Jr.

On Wednesday, July 28, 2021, Daniel Earl Carbaugh, Jr, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, mentor and friend passed into the arms of Jesus at the age of 77.

Daniel was born on December 5, 1943, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Daniel Earl Carbaugh, Sr. and Agnes (Moen) Carbaugh . After high school graduation Daniel enlisted in the United States Army where he was trained as a Profusionist. After his retirement from military service, he became a full-time family man and spent as much time as possible with his loved ones. Even though Daniel suffered from his own health problems his sole focus was to always take care of his family. Daniel was known as a gentle man of wisdom who was loved and respected by so many with his deep values and care for others. He had a heart of pure gold, he always put others first going out of his way to make things better for others rather than himself. Daniel served his country and loved the Lord. His never-ending love for his wife and family is what kept him being the ultimate optimist. He was always more concerned with his family and others than himself and that is what gave him the will to keep fighting to be with them and make sure they were taken care of to the best of his ability. He was loved everlasting by his family and will be forever missed.

Daniel was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Lynn Carbaugh and his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 57 years, Cheryl Jeanette Kreuger Carbaugh; daughter, Pamela Rathke and husband Vincent; granddaughters, Priscilla Makris (Michael), Gerry Giles, III (Cami), Serenity Rathke, Nevyah Rathke; great-grandchildren, Alexa, Michael, Zander, Brooke, Victoria, McKenzie; nephews, Ricky Castle and Scott Castle; nieces, Beatrice Filsinger and Pamila Hocker; numerous other loving relatives and friends.
