Obituary for Chester Dale "Doc" Eastin

Dr. Chet Eastin (affectionately known around town as “Doc”) passed away peacefully on December 9, 2020 with his family and friends. He was born in Cushing, Oklahoma to Chester and Verta Eastin. Dr. Eastin attended school in Cushing before going on to Oklahoma University and UMKC, where he graduated with honors. He obtained a degree in dental surgery in 1962 and earned his Board Certification in Orthodontics. Dr. Eastin loved Orthodontics because he enjoyed making people feel good about themselves.
Dr. Eastin was always incredibly involved with helping people and his community and was instantly loved by all he came in contact with. He was an Alzafar Shriner and Master Mason at the Brahan Lodge #226 AF & AM for 59 years, a member of the Defenders Club of the Second Amendment, the NRA, the 50 Cal Club, and the East Central School Board where he received an award in 1977 for Outstanding Contribution to Education. He served from 1994 to 1996 as an Administrative Council Chairman for the La Vernia United Methodist Church and worked with the prison ministry. He also served as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in Bexar County for many years.
Dr. Eastin opened two orthodontic practices in San Antonio and La Vernia, where he practiced at both locations for 52 years. He specialized in treating patients that had migraine headaches from TMJ issues. He lectured extensively to collegiate study groups in Texas, California, and Mexico. He always said, “Do everything you do for the glory of God.”
A few of his hobbies during and after retirement included building and flying model airplanes, welding, and woodworking. He built everything from furniture to cattle trailers. Dr. Eastin had a passion for collecting rare and exotic guns and spent countless hours with friends and family showing off his collection. He enjoyed treating friends and family to an afternoon at his home-based shooting range, where you were likely shooting his hand loaded bullets. He obtained his private pilot license and enjoyed the freedom of flying in his plane affectionately named “Dr. Feel Good”. He custom built his own race boats to include a v-drive through the hull, the engine, and a custom hydrofoil which allowed him to hit optimal speeds when he competed on Lake Travis. He undoubtedly lived life to the fullest and was always the life of the party.
Dr. Eastin is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bob Eastin. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Carol; daughters, Marilyn Kay Littlecharlie, Clarissa “Crissy” Harris; son, Chester “Chet” D. Eastin; stepdaughters, Dianna “DeeDee” Wollam, Holly Davis, and Emily Boseman; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
