Obituary for Charles David Hemby, Sr.

Charles David Hemby, Sr. was born in Stockdale, Texas to Jack and Edna (Rose) Hemby on May 10, 1932 and finished his journey on earth September 21, 2021 at the age of 89. David graduated from Stockdale High School in 1949 after which he moved to Boerne where he met Dorothy Mae Ingle - the love of his life! David and Dorothy married August 1, 1952 and established their home in Boerne. In January of 1953 David reported for duty at Fort Bliss, (El Paso) Texas and was later stationed in Germany until returning home in March of 1955. Later that year he was employed at Camp Stanley until retiring in May of 1987. David considered his family to be his ultimate legacy - many times he told us all (and everyone he knew) that he had the "Best Family in the World!" David and Dorothy raised a family of three in Boerne - daughters Maurine wife of Kim Maloy, Phyllis wife of Ralph Coldewey and son Charles David "Chuck" Hemby, Jr., husband of Jackie Hemby. Grandchildren - Eric Kennedy (Stephanie), Robert Kennedy (Christina), Christopher Coldewey (Lindsey), Heather Coldewey (Jimmy), and Justin Coldewey (Breanna), Rebecca (Maloy) Bailey (Adam), Sarah Maloy (Patrick), Jim Maloy (Jane), Hunter Hemby, Thomas "Cody" and Garry "Bubba" Hunt. Great-grandchildren - Cole, William, and Caitlin Kennedy, Ashling and Lucia Kennedy, Skyla and Brianna Coldewey, Cadence D'Arche, Charlie and Charlotte Coldewey, Ethan, Katherine, and Avery Bailey, Elwood and Finn Maloy, Aiyden and Olivia Hemby. David was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Edna Hemby, wife Dorothy, sister and brother-in-law Fred and Mabel O'Bryant, and great-granddaughter Avery Maloy Bailey. David is survived by his brother-in-law Richard Ingle, nieces and nephews Laura "Susie" O'Bryant, John R. Green, III and Lisa (Green) Simpkins, Tammy and Terry Whetstone. David is also survived by Juanita McWhorter a longtime friend and close companion. A visitation with the family will take place Saturday, September 25, 2021 starting at 12:00 PM at Finch Funeral Chapel, Stockdale, Texas.
