Billy Don Monroe, 85, of Adkins, Texas passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2021. Billy was born on June 23, 1936, in Carnegie, Oklahoma to John W. Monroe and Jewel C. (Walker) Monroe who precede him in death along with 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara Sue (Powell) Monroe; daughter, Rebecca Jewel DeAtley (Dennis); sons, Kenneth Don Monroe (Debbie Connell), and Jeffery Curtis Monroe; daughter-in-law, Kellie Wheiles (Robert); grandchildren, Teresa Akkola, Jennifer Floyd (Pete “G”), Candyce Garcia (Mauricio), and Russell Monroe; great-grandchildren, Aaron Akkola, Sydney Floyd, Brayden Monroe, and Hadley Floyd; mother-in-law, Tennie Ireland; sisters-in-law, Sandra Dickinson, and Jeanne Powell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, 10:00am-11:00am, at Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia, Texas. The funeral service will begin at 11:00am. Burial will follow the service at Mount Olive Cemetery in Adkins, Texas. Scott Powell will officiate the services.
