Billy Joe Byrd, age 75, of Nixon died December 20, 2006 in Victoria. He was born in Nixon on May 21, 1931 to Wood Robert Byrd and Ida L. Hall Byrd and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Billy Joe was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Robert Byrd. He is survived by his Partner in Life, Darleen Ostwald, of Nixon; a son, Joe Michael Byrd and wife, Dee, of El Paso; a step-son, Randy Ostwald and wife, Terri, of Katy; a grandson, Shane Byrd, of Pandora; a granddaughter, Stephanie Scheers, of Yuma, AZ; a great-grandson, John Michael Byrd, of Pandora; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing and visitation will be held at Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon on Thursday, Dec. 21st, from 2 P.M. – 8 P.M with the family receiving friends from 6 P.M. – 8 P.M. The funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 22nd, at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Nixon with the Rev. Kenny Rawls officiating. Burial will follow in the Nixon Cemetery.
